York is only 30 minutes away by car or, trains run from Thirsk station. The history of York, capital of the North and second city of the realm, is the history of England. It is one of the worlds' most fascinating cities and worth a visit for both shopping and museums. Yorks 4 kilometres of medieval walls provide a panoramic view of the city away from the hustle and bustle of busy streets. North Yorkshire Moors National Park
The 554 square miles of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park - the largest expanse of moorland heather in England - is just a short drive away. Enjoy the open moorland plus pretty dales and villages.
